We need a new way to think the economy. In this talk, you will be introduced to a new economic system which offer an alternative economic goal 'to meet the needs of all people within the means of the living planet'.

Since being published in 2017, the book Doughnut Economics, and its central idea of the Doughnut, has caught the imagination of people around the world. Offering an alternative economic goal 'to meet the needs of all people within the means of the living planet' it offers ways to think and design towards this goal, such as being regenerative and distributive.

Today, an emerging global community of people are applying the ideas of Doughnut Economics in cities, communities, businesses, education and more, and contributing their tools and stories into growing commons of knowledge and practice that is Doughnut Economics Action Lab (DEAL).

In this talk, we'll hear about how these ideas are being applied at the neighbourhood scale, including some playful and powerful tools and methods you can use in our own community.

Guest: Rob Shorter (he/him) from DEAL.

Rob leads DEAL's work with people and organisations working at the household and neighbourhood scale as well as networks working at the city, regional and national scale. Rob is most interested in the ways in which everyone can contribute to reimagining the Economy, and works with others to create playful and accessible methods that invite new audiences to engage in the ideas and possibilities of Doughnut Economics.
